AN OPEN LETTER TO George Bush Sr.

Mr. Bush,

We need you.

A parent's responsibility never really stops. A parent always wants to be proud of his children and their accomplishments. But some times it is necessary to stand up and stop the damage being done by a child who is out of control

That time is now.

I am sure you have followed the changes your son is currently making to the CIA, as well as the earlier shameful exposure of the identity of a CIA agent for political purposes. The CIA is being transformed into a weapon to support the current administration and all his decisions, no matter how good or how bad. You know more than anyone how important it is for the CIA to be independent, and to provide ACCURATE information untainted by ideology. This must be stopped, and only you have the stature, the experience, and the moral authority to do it.

You have also watched the disaster of Iraq unfold. The results were no surprise to you. This is exactly what you predicted in your own book, where you explained your difficult decision to NOT go into Iraq without approval and support from the world. That was a very painful decision, but the correct one.

Your son has decided that you did it wrong, and decided to prove that on his own initiative. Children sometimes fight their parents, and believe that THEY know best. In this case, you were proven right. Yet your son stubornly insists on not correcting his error. Only you can stand up and say that "more of the same" is not acceptable.

You do not need to remain silent. You have power and you have influence. You can speak out and let the United States and the world know that this is NOT the American way. And hopefully you can work on fixing the damage and salvaging some of America's self respect along the way.

PLEASE take a stand. Make a difference. Speak up. Call a press conference. Take a stand that cannot be ignored. You can do it. We NEED you to do it.

AN OPEN LETTER TO DICK CHENEY

Mr. Cheney,

We need you.

We have seen that you really care for your daughter, gay or not. When asked about your support for the President's anti-gay stance, you have always clearly been uncomfortable remaining silent, and saying that you MUST support the President, without ever giving your PERSONAL endorsement to that agenda.

Now Bush has won the presidencey for the next four years. What will happen to you? What will happen to your daughter?

We got a hint of this when the Family Policy Network raged that you had allowed your daughter on the stage when accepting the nomination. Thay say that your daughter stands for everything opposed by the Bush "mandate".

By now you must think you have sold your daughter and your soul to gain the Vice Presidency. But you CAN fight back.

Violence against gays has risen dramatically since the election. Many of them are actively looking to move to another country for their personal safety. Canada has been swamped with requests for information on immigrating. We are on our way to a new round of witch hunts. Bush would never take a stand against that, but you could. You could make a difference.

You do not need to remain silent. You have power and you have influence. You can speak out and let people know that promoting another inquisition is NOT the American way. You can speak out for all those other people who have gay firends and relatives. You can let them know in a way that no one else could how this can destroy families, and hurt people you love.

PLEASE take a stand. Make a difference. Speak up. Stop the upcoming holocaust. Call a press conference. Take a stand that cannot be ignored. Be the standard bearer AGAINST violence. You can do it.
